The Pontiac GTO the car that started it all, and starting in 1970 there was a new motor added to the line-up and that was the 455 big brother to the 400. This motor came to be when GM lifted its ban on motors over 400 cubic inches on the intermediates like the GTO and its sister cars the Chevelle, Cutlass, and the Skylark.
