Welcome 76 Trans Am With a 77 Front End
1976 Trans Am With a 77 Front End ? Yepperrrrr ! You see I already had two 1978 Trans Ams before this one . The T/A I had back in 1990 400 4spd but I sorta kinda got ripped off on it. So it was short lived then in 1999 I had another I got for 500 bucks. I was an automatic converted to a stick and a 428. Yes I said 428 out of a ’69 Grand Prix but young and stupid prevailed. I bought a used ’97 Formula Ram Air after I blew the head gasket. And I gave it back to the guy who sold it to me. Because he was down on his luck and needed a car.
So for 20 years I was looking for another Trans Am and with no luck whatsoever ! I found Firebirds converted to T/As and I found Turbo T/As and many with paint jobs in Bright Orange and high as all hell Cowl Hoods.. They were just not what I was looking for. Then as the years went on I lost my job. Went broke living in a foreclosed house actually mine ! Sure I got another job but let’s face it the prices were way north of what I paid in previous years. So I looked at my old key chain and said to myself I guess I’ll never get another one.
Then it happened ! Somethings I was working on payed off and I had some money to get what I want. I hit craigslist and every other place on the internet and started looking. Annddd Nothing ! Then finally 3 Months later I saw an ad on Craigslist 76 Trans Am 4spd with a 77 Front end. At this point I did not care. All I had to see was the word 4 Spd and a picture of that shifter coming out of the floor !
I called him from work had a short chat and talked money and the rest is as they say. Is History but now he had to trailer it to my house and the delivery well. The transaction almost did not take place. The guy didn’t lie but he didn’t know a thing about cars. And well
