Searching For 76 Trans Am Parts
Well …
I think its about that time to go on the hunt for a 1976 Front Clip, Hood and Shaker to return her to her former glory..
I have had this car for two years now a few ups and downs, I need the carb rebuilt the secondaries still stick a tad when I bang the awesome 4 gear box and hear it howl like a banshee. But other than that she still runs great for over 100,000 miles..
But between me hitting shit and the friggin Florida sun she does not look the was she used to. Not to mention they did a real shitty job putting her together too. But I didn’t car I wanted my Trans Am and I got her, I knew I was going to deal with the rest of the shit later anyways.. And now its time..
The back window never fit right so it leaks like a sive when it rains, on the hood you see some paint bubbles from where they painted over rust. but I need a 76 hood anyway so not worries. Maybe I’ll make a trade with someone I don’t know yet.. They headliner was never put in right then I tried to take it out and it crumbled in my hands so ..
As for the interior they made it a 1978 Interior which I never liked , I might keep the seats. But the Door Panels gotta go I never liked the always breaking friggin door handles.. Even in my Uncles ’79 Z28 they were horrible and always broke. And the driver side handle is starting to come loose so its a matter of time before that comes off and I just lose my shit..
Now one of these days I gotta get off my ass to get the numbers run from PHS. I gotta know if this is a 50th Anniversary car. At first I thought ok this is a S/E clone but a real Trans Am so as long as its a real Trans Am I am good. But after looking at some parts on the car like to steering wheel and dash board I really think this could be one.
Now the guy I bought it from knows absolutely anything about cars, and caught him in many lies as soon as he unloaded the car from the trailer. Such as the famous ” It was just running Yesterday”
When I try to start it and the carb starts overflowing with gas because it’s all gummed up and needs a rebuild badly.. but again this is a real Trans Am so we’re good..
Karma will get him in the end, and I will return this bird to her former glory no matter if she is a 50th Anniversary or not ..
Not only am I the founder of The JRX Foundation I am also the host of JRX Reviews. I love driving my Trans Am everywhere even state to state when we are helping people. Well weather permitting, She puts a lot of smiles on people’s faces and I love seeing that.
