Thank You Burt Reynolds For Your Work
Thank You Burt !
As a 5 year old kid in 1977 my most favorite car was the Corvette. Then in 1979 my cousin came over the house in a Black and Gold Z28. You see my cousin worked for the local Chevy Dealer. Leonard Chevrolet in Belleville New Jersey.
But then one summer night in 1979. ABC channel 7 had the movie of the Week. Smokey and the Bandit ! Within the 15 minutes of watching the Movie I was hooked. And once I saw that Black and Gold Trans Am I was done. Not to mention realize that the Black and Gold Z28 was nothing but a Trans Am Wanna be.
The Man Himself..
Now I was very young so the only other movies I ever saw with Burt was Gator and the Longest Yard. So when Smokey and The Bandit came out he was the friggin man. Now here is where I am proud of my age because. His movies just kept on coming Smokey and the Bandit II. The Cannonball Run. The End. Stroker Ace. And many many more and then I discovered his older ones. Deliverance and Silent Movie I mean he was just everywhere. I even became a Florida State University Fan because of him. And the girls he dated Inger Stevens. Sally Field and Dinah Shore to name a few. I am aware that not many liked him and to each his or her own.
But for me being a fat kid always getting teased when I was a kid. So his movies took me away from all of that at times .
Now I’m not going to say without him I would have never loved the Trans Am. Yes I have had two ’78s and the 1976 you see pictured . And yes she is a 76 with a 1977 front end. The owner before was more obsessed than me actually.
But he sure as Hell made it look cool two own one !
Not only am I the founder of The JRX Foundation I am also the host of JRX Reviews. I love driving my Trans Am everywhere even state to state when we are helping people. Well weather permitting, She puts a lot of smiles on people’s faces and I love seeing that.
